With his strict adherence to the lesson schedule and random spot-checks, it may seem that his lessons are hell.Well actually, he explains Econs concepts in a concise and engaging manner by constantly bringing in real-life examples. He even points out errors in the official exam answers. And as long as you put in effort to do his essay outlines, he will not target you in class. He's a pretty cool and reasonable guy. But that won't stop him from screaming at really irresponsible students, too.He also performs part-time gigs at bars with his own rock band, which was formed with his old university friends.He also has a public Instagram account where it's literally filled with posts of his cats, and occasionally himself. Even without him telling his students, they find that account anyway through the power of stalking.

Everyone's favourite teacher.Whenever it's the intense mugging period right before the end-of-year exams, Mr Kotobuki does everything he can to ensure the students' welfare. Encouraging Whatsapp messages with cheesy GIFs? Free bento from his family bento shop? Consultations till 10pm? He's got it all.He treats his classes to free pizza and bubble tea whenever they have class parties. Even gives them free vouchers for his family bento shop.He makes sure to have a private conference with a student, at least once every semester, to keep track of how they're coping, both academically and emotionally. He tries to play fun bonding games, or have those Real Talks™ during Form Class sessions, in hopes of bonding his class together. He hates seeing a class divided into cliques. After all, a bonded class, he believes, is a class that will perform well together in the final 'A' Level exams.He also likes sending dank Literature memes to his students.

No, seriously. Contrary to popular beliefs, SJC's cohort usually scores at most only 50% distinctions in 'A' Levels. If you get Mr Mikaze as your GP teacher, you should be very lucky that you won't have to hardcarry the entire subject yourself. But you'll have to fight with the other students for a highly-sought after consultation slot with him.His subtle snide remarks and deadpan humour makes his lectures entertaining, even if you have no interest in that certain topic. Everyone loves his clever and witty comments; they somehow bring new insights to the topic at hand.If you get Mr Mikaze as your Project Work (PW) teacher, be prepared to redo entire report drafts or even stay till 10pm for consultations. He will push your reports and presentations until they are the best that they can be.It's very apparent that his favourite topic to lecture about is modern technology. Specifically, artificial intelligence. His students often wonder why.

The only thing stopping Mr Camus from retiring is the pantry in the SJC staffroom. Thanks to the school funding, it's always filled with the finest, most exquisite desserts. That's also the main reason he transferred here from another school.He's known for being that one boomer teacher who isn't tech savvy. He communicates with his students through a representative, or simply verbally during Form Class sessions. It's because he's traumatised by students messaging him at 2am, the morning before the actual exam, to consult him in the last minute.He's mostly charming and charismatic towards his students. Once he enters the staff room, though, he becomes aloof and rude, especially towards Mr Ranmaru.He doesn't need modern technology to teach. He just needs the whiteboard and marker. Some find that admirable, while others would kill for another teacher.

No one ever knows what he's doing.He sends cursed memes to his class chat at 2am in the morning. Please help him.He also tried to form a meme SIG with Yamato, Shion and Nagi. It was called "Digital Anthropology", or at least that's what it was in the official proposal, before the teachers rejected him. So he decided to make it an unofficial SIG. And thus, here comes the birth of SJC's memepage, @saowotome.jc.He's willing to tank the responsibility if the memepage ever gets reported, since he was the one who came up with the idea. The rest of the gang has mixed reactions towards this.Unfortunately though, because he spent too much time shitposting, he let his own Recreational Games SIG die. Hopefully his seniors won't kill him.He has a lot of confidence in himself during Debate sessions, even if what he's saying sounds like trash. Fake it till you make it, he says. "Simplicity is happiness," people usually say.That's why he was so adamant about being dragged into Digital Anthropolgy. He had an ominous feeling that they were about to get into a huge chaotic mess. He was even more surprised when Shion was revealed to be one of the founding members.He just wants to live his own life, free of responsibilities. That's why he joined slacker CCAs such as Red Cross and Library Club. Boring, sure, but at least there's a very low chance of tea happening. And he can focus on his academics.Though if there's one thing he wants to be exciting, it'd be the cultural SIGs in school. He's involved a little in Hanja (South Korean culture) and European Society, but both SIGs never really took off due to low attendance rates.He kind of despises Korzy, since they always advertise themselves as promoting South Korean culture, when all they do is only promoting the 'pop' aspect of it.

Everyone expects Nagi to be on the Honour Roll, except his only good subjects are Mathematics and Physics. He just cannot seem to grasp the concept of essays in General Paper.He's the shortest guy in the entire school. But he doesn't mind it at all, even when others treat him like a younger brother. I guess he just enjoys getting the attention, and being treated like a family member made him feel something that he had never felt before.He joined Dance Society, to try it out, because he was tired of people telling him that he has "no life". He finds them annoying; wait till he discovers the world's next most influential mathematical equation. And he'll see who has the last laugh.He absolutely loves offensive memes. The more offensive it is, the better. (Yes, he loves South Park.) A couple of times, Kira had to step in and actually stop Nagi from posting overly offensive memes, which could possibly get their page reported to the teachers.Later though, he finds that Dance is actually quite fun, so he joins Korzy too. And that's when he discovered a new hobby of teasing his senior, Syo.

Eiji's essays are wonderful. His language is incredibly coherent and beautiful. Teachers love reading his essays whenever he hands them in. (Nagi is jealous of his essay writing skills.)He joined Choir because he views singing as a therapeutic activity.Being so politically and socially aware at such a young age, with his stunning Model United Nations and Debate competition records, and his knack for writing really persuasive arguments, he was allowed to skip a year in secondary school. This means him and his older brother, Eiichi, are now in the same level.He just wanted to be supportive of his brother, so he agreed to join the memepage, even if he isn't exactly familiar with meme culture.

The news still came as a big shock for him, even if he already knew that he didn't do his best for Promos (J1 end-of-year exams).He initially joined Basketball just for fun and to keep fit. So he definitely wasn't expecting it when his coach appointed him as captain. There were some disagreements within the team due to that decision, but Van managed to smoothen it out by talking and communicating with them.He's also semi-famous on TikTok; he has been investing time in creating TikTok videos since the start of his first J1 year.There are rumours of him dating someone.

A very soft-spoken guy in class. Being an extremely socially awkward person, he was left out of cliques in his class since day one. He just didn't know how to talk to anyone since he couldn't find someone who shares his same interest of anime and manga. Well, except for Kira, but he only watched the popular shounen shows.Still, Shion sticks together with Kira whenever there is group work in class. He realises that Kira's a pretty chill guy, and they vibe well together even though they don't share much interests.Later, when Shion joins J-fire (SJC's anime club) in hopes of finding like-minded people, he is absolutely taken aback by how the seniors are aggresively gatekeeping the anime community. Thus, when he becomes the next J-fire president, he wishes to stop this gatekeeping culture and open the club to everyone.Despite his soft appearance, he has a lot of potential to make really offensive but humourous shitposts.He's still a closet weeb to his classmates though.

After experiencing too much CCA drama at the end of her first J1 year, she decided to ghost her Netball mates and become less active. Since she also had to retain, she was forced to step down as a CCA Leader.The drama left her with trust issues, so she was really glad to have befriended Haruka on the very first day, since she felt that Haruka had the most genuine energy out of all of their classmates.She becomes Vice-President of MC to help Haruka out. At the same time, it distracts her from having to deal with her frustration with her Netball mates. She becomes as invested in MC as Haruka does, even if she didn't really intend to at the beginning. I guess Haruka's passion for music really rubbed off on her.Tomo used to learn the piano, but she gave up after a few months. And now she's relearning music theory with Haruka, and finding out that there really is more to music than it meets the eye.She's also really protective of Haruka, and was initially distrustful of the boys.

But when he's able to tap on his true potential, he can create really gorgeous and detailed artworks, like those timeless religious mural art in ancient cathedrals. When he's Satsuki, though, his creations become abstract expressionist, similar to Jackson Pollock's works.He genuinely wanted to pursue Art. But after going through what it's like to actually study Art, he falls into a really deep burnout, and loses his motivation and drive unwillingly.He goes back to Music, playing the viola whenever he's burnt out for Art. Or sometimes he'll just create small cute crafts, like sock plushies and jewellery making.He also rarely uses social media. He doesn't have an Instagram or Twitter account. Perhaps Satsuki is holding him back, fearing that people might cyberbully him.He also joined Astronomy Club, thinking it was the same as Astrology...

People constantly mistake him for a Malay/Indian/Indian-Malay/etc.He's actually from the Levant area in the Middle East.His parents were rich enough to escape the political strife there and migrated here. It's a little complicated, but Cecil's family is slightly genetically related to the monarchy in his home country, so they belong in the upper class. His parents also hope that Cecil can experience world-class education here.He has been living and studying here since Secondary One. Although he's exempted from Mother Tongue, he still had to learn some local phrases to get by in his daily life (his friends also taught him the Hokkien curse words, which he was sure he would never use in his life). His own mother tongue is almost non-existent here, so he has to adapt somehow.His grades peaked in secondary school, but since then it has been all downhill. He's currently struggling with academics, and almost had to retain in J1. Despite all of these worries, he finds joy in making music together with his friends in the Musicians' Club.

Catch Syo sleeping in every single lecture during the sports season.Or catch him casually breaking into dance move in the middle of the crowded atrium.After spending most of his past intubated in the hospital, he finally has a chance to 'restart' his life and experience the full-blown Ideal School Life™, where he's constantly surrounded by people he knows and he's constantly having fun.While his social life is thriving because of his cute and buff looks and his exceptionally cool dancing skills, his academic life is taking a nosedive. His teachers hate dealing with him because of how long he takes to submit a single piece of assignment. Syo is especially scared of Mr Kurosaki because of that.His tiring Dragonboat and Korzy practices really take a toll on him. But once these activites stand down, he's actually able to focus all of his energy onto mugging. And he instantly switches into a hardcore mugger, which was partly inspired by his hardworking twin brother.He also posts dance covers on his main Instagram account occasionally, which has over 2K followers.

A bright, young man with dreams of becoming a musician one day. He started a Youtube channel when he was 16, and he started posting acoustic covers of his favourite songs. He gained some, but not much, recognition from the online community. Youtube algorithm sucks.He comes from a healthy foster home who bought him his first guitar, and he's really thankful towards them.He did consider going straight into a music school instead of "wasting 2 years in JC". But at that point in time of choosing schools, he wasn't sure that he was really aiming for the music industry. There was a lot of self-doubt, mostly caused by his disapproving relatives. So JC would give him 2 years to think, and National Service would give him another 2.5 years.But by the end of JC, he's made up his mind to pursue music. And it's all thanks to him being part of the Musicians' Club experience.

When he arrived in SJC, he was not expecting to see his childhood friend-turned-silent-enemy right here, stepping out of his chaffeur-driven BMW at the main gate.Now he had to avoid him for the next two years, he presumed. He doesn't want to feel the awkwardness.In the meantime, however, he found his belonging in Judo, which he thought was a rather well-thought out martial arts. It enhances both the physical and the spiritual dimension of one, which he really appreciates.Then he joined the Pianists' Club in hopes of finding competent pianists to learn from, except he accidentally glossed over the "for beginners" part in their publicity poster. So he was slightly disappointed.Even though he's stuck with Otoya's antics during class, he actually does enjoy being his friend and company because of how different they are. Otoya's carefree nature is something Masato could probably not do.

Ren, well-known for getting caught up in a multitude of tea.A chronic slacker who has made a couple of teachers angry or given him up.Despite so, his rather sexy and mature appearance shines a lot of spotlight on him. Together with the fact that he likes to vibe around with others and spill tea a lot, he's able to make acquaintances at a very fast rate. He knows at least one person from each class (and there's 33 clases in their cohort). So people have the impression that he's really popular, since he hangs out with a lot of people.Ironically, he's lowkey an outcast in his class because he slacked too much in Project Work, resulting in too much drama (and tea spreads pretty fast). Tokiya, especially, gets pretty mad at him (they're PW mates). Haruka as well, whenever they're involved in ELL projects.In English Drama though, his CCA mates absolutely adore his sassy, give-no-shit attitude. Except for Tokiya, again, who coincidentally joined English Drama too. Why do they keep seeing each other?He had thoughts of joining the Musicians' Club initially, but before he, Tokiya and Haruka can sort their tea out, he would much prefer to avoid the awkwardness.Speaking of awkwardness, there's Masato too, and he's hoping that that guy isn't mad at him.

It's not a normal day without seeing Tokiya's name on the Honour Roll.On top of being Student Council President, he's also involved in acting roles in English Drama, and he still has time to mug and get 90 RP?His existence is illegal; he should be banned from school.Anyway, he has the best time management skills. He's good at micro-managing, and he makes sure his fellow Councillors are actually doing a good job with their duties. He keeps professional and private life separate. So even if he's sick, apparently, he'll still have Discord meetings with his Council Exco members.He does his revision, and sometimes homework, even on the train. He makes use of every single spare second he has for maximum productivity. I swear he's single-handedly raising the LRAS of our economy.But the opportunity cost of that is his mental health. He doesn't have much life outside of school. He places too high expectations on himself, and he doesn't know how to relax properly.

It is a well-known fact among Syo's fangirls (and fanboys) that he has a twin brother named Kaoru studying in the Zhonghua JC, the nation's top JC and pretty much all the smart kids are there.Ever since Kaoru saw Syo's frail condition in the hospital, he vowed to become a medical researcher so he could find a cure for his brother.Even though Kaoru wasn't born gifted, he put in blood, sweat and tears into studying the Sciences, using whatever smart studying tips there were to help him learn. Through this, he's able to absorb information quickly. He also goes the Extra mile during lessons, often learning out-of-syllabus content to understand the concepts deeper. He's every teacher's favourite student, essentially.He's aiming for the top local university's med school.

JOINT ADMISSIONS EXERCISE (JAE)
For the local GCE 'O' Level StudentsApplicants trying to enter SJC must meet the entry criteria based on the L1R5 aggregate. For JAE, this aggregate is calculated from results obtained in the previous year's GCE 'O' Level Examinations.Please note that the entry criteria may change from year to year and the above table should only be used as a guide.
DIRECT SCHOOLS ADMISSIONS (DSA)
SJC invites students with outstanding talent in the following areas to apply for Direct School Admission:

Contemporary Dance

Netball
Symphonic Band
Table Tennis
Tennis
Volleyball
Successful applicants will gain admission into SJC the following year for their JC education as long as they meet the eligibility set by the MOE for the two-year junior college course based on their GCE ‘O’ level examinations results.
INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS
For students from International SchoolsSJC has accepted students who have graduated from secondary schools in Malaysia, Indonesia, the People's Republic of China and India, among other countries. As the examination system differs from country to country, we will consider such applications on a case-by-case basis.
RETURNING LOCALS
Returning locals seeking admission to SJC are advised to take the placement test, SPERS, administered by MOE. They would provide a list of junior colleges that the candidate is eligible for based on the results of the SPERS.
